Common Questions
What to know before joining your first Group.
What happens in a Group?
Groups are live, moderated conversations led by a Peer Host. Most follow a simple structure so everyone has space to share or listen. You can participate at your own pace.
Do I have to speak?
No. Many people start by just listening. You decide if and when you want to share.
Is it free to join?
Yes. Groups are free to join, and you don't need a credit card to get started.
Is it private?
Groups operate under ShareWell's confidentiality and safety standards. You can join using just your first name, and you control how much you share. Peer Hosts follow our community guidelines and safety policies.
Who leads the Groups?
Groups are led by Peer Hosts - community members with lived experience who facilitate respectful, structured conversations. Peer Hosts have access to ShareWell's training program and operate under our safety and facilitation standards. Many complete our training, though it is not required. ShareWell provides peer support, not clinical care.
How is this different from therapy?
Therapy involves clinical treatment and diagnosis. ShareWell Groups are peer support: real people with lived experience, guided by Peer Hosts in a moderated space. Many members use Groups alongside therapy.
What if I need more support than a Group?
If you're looking for more focused support, you can book a private 1-on-1 with a Peer Specialist or join a skill-building Workshop led by a Coach.
What if I'm in crisis?
ShareWell is not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services. If you're in the U.S., call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
