Common questions
Quick answers about Groups, 1-on-1s, and Workshops
What if I don't want to speak?
Completely fine. Many members start by just listening, and some prefer to stay listeners long-term. There's no pressure to share — ever.
Is this therapy?
No. Peer Specialists and hosts aren't therapists. They're trained peers with lived experience who offer support, reflection, and connection. Many members use peer support alongside therapy — they complement each other well.
How is peer support different from therapy?
Therapy involves licensed professionals providing clinical treatment. Peer support connects you with someone who's had similar experiences — think of it as talking with someone who truly gets it, as an equal.
Are the hosts qualified?
Hosts complete ShareWell's specialized training in peer support facilitation, active listening, and creating safe spaces. They're skilled at guiding conversations — not providing clinical treatment.
Is my information private?
Yes. Only your username is visible. All sessions are moderated, and your data is never sold. 1-on-1 Calls are completely private between you and your Peer Specialist.
What if I'm in crisis?
ShareWell is not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or call 911.
